Roughriders Announce 2021 Game Themes

The Saskatchewan Roughriders take on the Winnipeg Blue-Bombers in CFL action on September 1st, 2019 at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, SK. Derek Mortensen/Electric Umbrella

WELCOME HOME TO MOSAIC STADIUM!

ROUGHRIDERS ANNOUNCE 2021 GAME THEMES

A new season of football is finally upon us, and the Saskatchewan Roughriders can’t wait to have their fans back in Mosaic Stadium.

The 14-game regular season will feature four consecutive home games (with a bye week in between) to get Rider Nation ready for a 2021 season like no other.

“It’s been nearly two years since we’ve last been able to gather at Mosaic Stadium and with our home opener finally within reach, we can’t wait to celebrate this special moment with our fans,” said President and CEO Craig Reynolds. “We wouldn’t have made it through this last year-and-a-half without their support and we are putting all we’ve got into giving them a great comeback season.”

The season begins on August 6 at 7:30 p.m. vs the B.C. Lions. Pre-game ceremonies will be happening before kickoff, and we ask fans to be in their seats by 7:15 p.m. Fewer than 200 tickets are available for the home opener, so fans wanting to be a part of the Riders return to the field are encouraged to act now.

The Roughriders are also introducing the 2021 game day themes, which include fan favourites such as Country Night presented by Young’s Equipment, the 56th Labour Day Classic, presented by Mosaic and the annual Cameco Riders Touchdown for Dreams Pink Game in October. A full list of home game themes is listed below.

The Roughriders have also instituted several changes to Game Day operations, as well as new safety and cleanliness measures for the 2021 Season.

Digital ticketing has arrived and now a smartphone with the Rider App, powered by SaskTel, is the easiest way for fans to manage their tickets and get into the stadium. Tickets can be easily transferred to someone else or can be added to a digital wallet for quick access to the Stadium on Game Day. Accommodations will be made for those fans without smartphones and helpers will be available outside each gate before the game to talk people through it. More details are available here

To bring Mosaic Stadium onside along other major sports arenas and to minimize bottlenecks at Stadium gates, the Club is moving to a clear bag policy for all Saskatchewan Roughriders games in 2021 and beyond. This policy will allow for expedited entry into Mosaic Stadium for quicker screening at entry points by Stadium security. Each fan, including children can bring in one clear bag sized 12″ x 6″ x 12″ or smaller. Non-compliant bags will be held at a location on the Evraz Place footprint or fans may return it to their vehicle.

Fans will also notice enhanced cleaning measures across Mosaic Stadium, especially in high traffic areas such as doors, bathrooms and counter tops where specific custodians will be assigned to ensure frequent cleaning. An increased number of hand sanitizing stations will also be installed at high touch areas and entry points, while indoor spaces such as suites and the AGT Lounge have upgraded air filters to fall in line with filter ratings used in hospitals.

The Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL), who operates Mosaic Stadium, also recently received GBAC Star Accreditation, which is a specialized facility certification process developed by the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a division of ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association. This accreditation is considered the gold standard of safe facilities and outlines best practices, protocols and procedures to control risk factors associated with infectious disease, including COVID-19. In achieving this accreditation, REAL has adopted and is implementing the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention in Mosaic Stadium and all its other facilities.

In addition, the Club has banned the use of blowhorns, sunflower seeds and peanuts in the stands moving forward. Mask use is encouraged for fans if they so choose, and free disposable masks are available at Guest Services upon request for individuals who may decide while attending the game they would prefer to wear one.
