The Saskatchewan Roughriders are pleased to welcome Regina native Amanda Ruller as the Club’s first participant in the CFL’s Women in Football Program, presented by KPMG.
As part of this new program, each of the CFL’s nine member clubs are welcoming one woman to join their football operations or business administration departments for a four-week development opportunity coinciding with the start of training camp.
“Amanda’s energy, alongside her coaching experience and the time she’s spent working with football players and athletes, immediately stood out to us,” said Vice President of Football Operations Jeremy O’Day. “We look forward to having her at camp with us, not only for her to learn but to see what she is able to bring to our team.”
Ruller is currently an assistant coach at McMaster University where she works with running backs, assists on special teams and serves as the assistant strength and conditioning coach. She also works with McMaster’s women’s flag football team and Team Ontario’s U18 Women’s Tackle Team. Outside of football, Ruller has spent ten years working as a sport performance coach and has received several certifications including Level II Coaching Theory and Football Competition Development (NCCP), CPT (Certified Personal Trainer), CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) and CEP (Certified Exercise Physiologist). She earned a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of Regina in 2012.
Ruller will join the Club for training camp on May 9, working with the Roughriders’ coaching staff and assisting Coach Kelly Jeffrey with the team’s running backs.
Coors Light Training Camp will run from May 15 to June 3, with practices located at Griffiths Stadium from May 15 to May 27 before returning to Regina on May 29 for the remainder of the preseason. Rookie camp will run from May 11-13 at Griffiths Stadium.
