Craig Reynolds
President and Chief Executive Officer
Craig Reynolds was announced as the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ second President and Chief Executive Officer on December 16th, 2014 and formally started in that position on March 1st, 2015.
Reynolds brings an extensive business background coupled with an ability to provide in-depth analysis of the inner workings of a successful football franchise. This unique blend of experience helped him land his dream job of guiding one of the nation’s most successful sports franchises, the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club.
Reynolds was raised in Foam Lake, Sask., and knows the true meaning of bleeding green after attending many Rider games during his childhood with his family. Following his small-town upbringing, Craig attended Arizona State University then the University of Saskatchewan, where he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Distinction, and a Masters in Professional Accounting. In 2001, he obtained his chartered accountant designation from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. Craig’s education has led him on a successful career path starting in 1998 at KPMG in Saskatoon as a senior accountant. His leadership and aptitude sent him overseas on an international transfer. He continued working for KPMG at the firm’s Luxembourg location and then took on a financial accounting role at Thomson Scientific in London, UK. Craig’s Canadian roots called him back to Calgary where he excelled with Suncor Energy in various senior management roles. Craig was selected by Suncor to lead the Oilsands Cost Management Program in Fort McMurray in 2008. Reynolds made another career move in 2009, when he moved home to the green heartbeat of the prairies to become the Chief Financial Officer of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Reynolds became a pillar of leadership for the Riders during his time as CFO, helping to guide the organization to notable financial success with record profits and overseeing the growth of the stabilization fund from $1 million to more than $12 million in five years. He was promoted to Senior Vice-President & CFO in September of 2012 and excelled in strategically strengthening the Riders operationally through planning, budgeting, financial reporting, human resources, football operations financial management, and stadium operations functions. In addition, Craig was instrumental in leading the Grey Cup Legacy Project which expanded Mosaic Stadium in 2012 and he also chaired the operations committee for the 2013 Grey Cup. In that role, he was responsible for the ticketing, sponsorship, marketing, retail and stadium operations for an event that would go down as one of the most memorable moments in Saskatchewan Roughriders history – winning the Grey Cup on home turf.
Reynolds also played an important role in bringing the vision of new Mosaic Stadium to life. Along with the Province of Saskatchewan and the City of Regina, this vision was turned into a reality in June 2014 when ground was broken to kick off construction for the iconic new Mosaic Stadium. Craig was a key leader in the new stadium project in many areas such as stadium research and design, financial management, developing external communications, designing the club’s capital campaign and executing overall strategies. Mosaic Stadium is a legacy that will live on for generations of Rider Nation and Reynolds is humbled to have played a role in bringing this incredible facility to life.
Craig represents the Riders on the Canadian Football League’s Board of Governors as an Alternate Governor. In addition to his passion for football and the Riders, Craig is an avid community supporter and has the pleasure of serving on the board of directors for the Red Cross and the Globe Theatre. He has been named as one of the province’s brightest young leaders as a member of CBC’s Future 40. Craig has two young children, a son, Noel and a daughter, Neeve.
