Dr. Michael J. Nicholls
Dr. Mike Nicholls is a product of Regina, SK, Canada. Trained as a family physician with an expertise in Sport and Exercise Medicine, he currently works at the RCMP Training Academy (“Depot”). He has been a Clinical Coordinator for the U of S College of Medicine’s Enhanced Skills Sport and Exercise Medicine residency program since its inception 14 years ago. Dr. Nicholls also spent 14 years working at the University of Regina, operating a family practice and providing care to the athletes of the many varsity teams. He’s worked with Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence U18 and World Junior programs and travelled internationally with Wrestling Canada national teams for over 10 years, most of those years as Wrestling Canada’s Medical Director. He was CMO for the 2005 Canada Games and was a host physician with the 2010 Vancouver Olympics medical team and he attended the 2012 London Olympics as the team physician for Wrestling Canada. He also worked as a team physician with the WHL Regina Pats for 29 seasons and has been an assistant team physician with the Saskatchewan Roughriders Football team since 2016.
Dr. Nicholls is committed to the concept that “exercise is medicine” and enjoys helping people remain active throughout life. He derives as much satisfaction from treating non-athletes and “weekend warriors” as he does treating elite and professional athletes.
