The Saskatchewan Roughriders named Mueller their Offensive Co-ordinator on Dec. 6, 2023. In his first year in the role, he led an offensive group that significantly contributed to the team’s winning record and second-place finish.
In 2024, the Riders offence produced 45 touchdowns, 5,019 passing yards, 1,613 rushing yards and played a key role in the Roughriders hosting and winning their first home playoff game since 2021. In the Roughriders’ 28-19 victory over the B.C. Lions in the Western Semi-Final, Mueller’s offence produced 370 yards, including 279 through the air with 26-for-33 passing.
Under Mueller’s leadership, the Roughriders had three All-CFL divisional offensive players: Quarterback Trevor Harris, receiver Samuel Emilus and offensive lineman Logan Ferland. As well, Ferland was named the West Division’s Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman.
Born and raised in Regina, Mueller returned to his home province with a near-decade of CFL coaching experience. He was a member of the Stampeders’ coaching staff from 2014 to 2023, sharing in two Grey Cup championship celebrations along the way.
Mueller is a grandson of Roughriders legend Ron Lancaster. Mueller’s father, Larry, was the Roughriders’ assistant general manager for three years, beginning with the championship season of 1989. Lana Mueller, Marc’s mother, is a former parking lot attendant outside Taylor Field.
Like his grandfather, Mueller was a quarterback of note. He starred for the Sheldon-Williams Spartans before spending six seasons with the University of Regina Rams. He attended a CFL training camp with Edmonton and made one pre-season appearance – at historic Mosaic Stadium on June 17, 2011. He completed three of three passes for 45 yards.
Mueller’s wife, Jenaya, is a former member of the Roughriders’ Cheer Team. They have two children – Sawyer and Wallace.
