Saskatchewan won the Grey Cup … in March!
On March 3, 1994 — 29 years ago today — Regina was awarded hosting privileges for the 1995 Grey Cup Festival.
The Queen City got the nod over Winnipeg at a CFL board of governors’ meeting in Sacramento.
Although there was initial skepticism about whether Saskatchewan could stage Canadian football’s marquee event, any doubts were removed when the 1995 event was a resounding success.
The original Mosaic Stadium was also the host facility for the 2003 and 2013 Grey Cup games. New Mosaic Stadium was the site of the 2022 Festival and game.
