It’s that time of year; it’s time to scout the NFL Camps. This is my eleventh year scouting the NFL, it is a great time of year.
My first stop is Davie, FL where the Miami Dolphins facilities are found and that is where they have their training camp. Some of the teams I will visit have their camp at a different location than their home facility as we did this year having camp in Saskatoon.
I was able to watch four and a half hours of film from practices the Dolphins had this past week. The Dolphins as well as the Cowboys were able to start early because they will be playing in the Hall of Fame game. But before I hit the video room I spent time with the Assistant GM of the Dolphins, Brian Gaine. He went over the roster for players that I should look at and gave me a list of approximately 25 players to look at.
Walking down to the video room was cool as I ran in to five Dolphins’ Front Office staff that I have crossed paths with. One of them was Mike Murphy, the son of Cal Murphy. When you do this for a while you certainly gain many contacts and develop good relationships with the NFL clubs.
I got to watch the Montreal-Edmonton game in my room HD on ESPN2. How sweet is that!
