Saskatchewan Roughrider quarterback Darian Durant and kicker Chris Milo have each been named a CFL Gibson’s Finest Player of the Week.
Durant was named Offensive Player of the Week following Sunday’s Western Semi-Final victory over the B.C Lions at Mosaic Stadium. The eight year Rider completed 19 of 23 pass attempts for 270 yards and two touchdowns. The University of North Carolina product also added 97 yards rushing on six carries including 35 yard run. He finished the game with an astonishing 148.8 efficiency rating.
This is the fourth time is his career and second time this season that Durant has been named offensive player of the week. He was also named CFL Offensive Player of the Month for August.
Milo was named Special Teams Player of the Week after collecting 17 points in Sunday’s win. The Laval graduate was good on five of six field goal attempts including a 45 yard bomb in the fourth quarter to put the Riders ahead for good. He also connected on both convert attempts.
This is the second time in his career he has picked up weekly special teams honours. He was named CFL Special Teams Player of the Month in August.
It is the thirteenth time this season that a Rider has earned player of the week honours after Chris Milo, Chris Getzlaf, Chris Garrett, Tyron Brackenridge, Darian Durant (twice), Rey Williams (twice), Rob Bagg, Kory Sheets (three) and Jock Sanders have all picked up weekly awards.
