Finally some football! Well, not completely, Riders Mini-Camp 2014 hit the field with the players in helmets and shorts.
The day consisted of a pair of practices sandwiched in between was film and lunch.
Practice one was used for the players to get acclimated back to football, as well as to the Canadian game. Even with some newness, the play on the field was crisp and intense.
Session two was much of the same, with the players becoming more comfortable with each other and the game, things became easier.
There are 57 players in camp and a lot of evaluating to be done. They range from players who were with the Riders last season, recently signed free agents and players currently on the negotiation list.
Here is a little peek into what day one looked like, with a little emphasis on the offence…don’t worry, the defence will have their day tomorrow.
Dan Farthing got the day going by putting the players through the warm up process.

Head Coach Corey Chamblin had an eye on everything going on, also taking time with some of the defensive backs.
A great group of linebackers are in Florida including returning Rider, Morty Ivey as well as Chad Kilgore (49) and Scott McKillop (50).
Defensive Line coach, Todd Howard put his group of defensive lineman through their drills before teaming up with the offensive lineman for one on one skills. The two players in the third picture are Kendrick Payne (96) and Trent Allmang-Wilder.
Baron Miles has a large group of defensive back at his disposal, which also means a lot of extra work over the weekend.
Everyone is working hard in the heat including assistant equipment manager Mike MacNeil.
Rain came down during the night to make field conditions very interesting. The receivers were able to shine even with some slippage involved. Footwork is the most important tool to a solid offensive lineman. This was one of the key things offensive line coach, Doug Malone looked for during today’s practices. Pictured are #69 Corey Watman, #63 Levi Adcock and#53 Matt Vonk.
Corey addressed the troops after a very competitive day. Things wind up Sunday morning with one final session.
