CFLs All- Time Receptions and Receiving Yards Leader, Geroy Simon Announces Retirement

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today import receiver Geroy Simon is retiring from the Canadian Football League.
Simon is a veteran of 15 CFL seasons playing 238 career regular season games. The Johnstown, PA native originally entered the league with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, signing as a free agent in March 1999 out of the University of Maryland. In October, 2001 Simon joined the B.C. Lions where he would spend the next 12 seasons before spending 2013 in Saskatchewan.
At 38-years-old, Simon will retire the Canadian Football League all-time leader in career receptions with 1,029 and receiving yards with 16,352. His 103 career receiving touchdowns rank third all-time. He also caught a pass in 188 consecutive regular season games.
‘Superman’ spent his final and only season with the Saskatchewan Roughriders last year after being acquired by the team in January, 2013. In 15 regular season games he accumulated 565 yards and three touchdowns on 40 receptions. He then added 36 yards in two playoff games before going off for 67 yards and two touchdowns on three receptions in the Grey Cup.
At the conclusion of the 2006 season, Simon was named the CFL Most Outstanding Player after racking up a career high 1,856 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. Through his career he was named a Division All-Star seven times while picking up League All-Star honours six times.
He is a three-time Grey Cup champion having won with the B.C. Lions in 2006, and 2011, then with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2013.
