Whether or not the two players actually hit the field at the same time won’t be known for a while yet, but if Montreal Alouettes and former NFL receiver Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson gets on the field for the same time as Riders safety Tyron Brackenridge, he may want to keep his head on a swivel after throwing a challenge via Twitter out there.
For reasons that aren’t really known, the flamboyant Johnson said he was looking forward to playing #41 from the Riders in a tweet. Its not known why Johnson selected Brackenridge, but the 4th year Rider was more than ready to respond by saying “Can’t wait!” Johnson continued to egg Brackenridge on by saying he will run through you or around you to which Brackenridge simply replied that his CFL career will be short if wants to mess with him and that he had better ask his teammates or better yet find out for himself. He finished by saying if you’re not looking for number 41, you’ll regret it.
Brackenridge isn’t really sure why Johnson singled him out, but he is more than ready to take what Johnson gives.
“I guess my name must have been floating around in their dressing room,” Brackenridge said with a grin. “He is looking to make a name for himself and he is looking for a challenge and you know I don’t blame him.”
Brackenridge was actually flattered at the attention he received.
“It kind of made my day,” Brackenridge stated. “ You go through long days of camp with meeting and all that so its fun to go at it with someone else versus going around and joking with your teammates.
Brackenridge says he is more than willing to let Johnson know what he can do if the opportunity arises.
“Ill do what I have to do, “Brackenridge said. “I approach every game the same way and if it comes up, I will show him who number 41 is. He wants to know why everyone respects me and speaks highly of me around this league. He wants to find out for himself and I have no problem showing him. He’s a character who speaks his mind, but we’ll see what he brings when he lines up outside me.
Its pretty much a certainty Brackenridge will be a member of the Riders starting defense, but whether or not Johnson makes the Alouettes is not known. The two teams are not scheduled to meet one another until August 16, but Brackenridge knows if Johnson is on the Alouettes roster for that game at Mosaic Stadium that the contest won’t need any hype.
“Everyone will be dialing in now,” Brackenridge said with a grin. “TSN has a hold of it and everyone is saying to circle that date and be ready to see this and be ready to see that.”
It’s a matchup many will want to see with the smart man perhaps wanting to cash his chips on the hard-hitting Rider safety who would love nothing more to hit the jackpot while showing Johnson why he is considered as one of the hardest hitters if not the hardest hitter in the CFL. v
