Saskatchewan Roughrider running back Anthony Allen has been named a CFL Player of the Week.
The 26-year-old picked up Offensive Player of the Week following an impressive outing in the Riders 30-24 win over Winnipeg in Sunday’s Labour Day rematch. The Florida native led the Green and White offence with 115 yards rushing and a touchdown on 18 carries. He also added two receptions for 21 yards.
Through seven regular season games played, the first year Rider has registered 83 carries for 477 yards and four touchdowns. He’s also added 17 receptions for 126 yards and two touchdowns.
This is the first time Allen has been named Offensive Player of the Week.
It is the tenth time this season a Rider has earned Player of the Week honours after John Chick (three), Ricky Foley (three), Sam Hurl, Rob Bagg, Jerome Messam and now Anthony Allen have all been recognized.
