It was a couple of teams looking for their first win of the season as the Riders made their first road trip of the season heading into Vancouver to play the 0-and-1 B.C. Lions.
The Green and White got off to a great start as their second drive of the game was highlighted with a 45 yard pitch and catch from Kevin Glenn to Weston Dressler for the touchdown.
The Lions got into the red zone a couple of times in the first half and couldn’t cash in, because of that, the Riders were able to have the 7-6 edge at the half.
It was another up and down second half for the Riders for the third week in a row. They were able to cash in on touchdowns from Weston Dressler, Brett Smith and Anthony Allen and held an 11 point lead with 2:21 left in the fourth quarter.
The Lions offence and defence stepped in a big way beginning with a long touchdown catch and run by Austin Collie to cut the Rider lead to three. A 3rd down gamble by the Riders was snuffed by the Lions defence which helped set up a long 56 yard field goal by rookie kicker Richie Leonie to tie the game and send it to overtime.
The Riders were unable to move the football and had to settle for a field goal the Lions promptly drove down the field and Travis Lulay hit Emmanuel Arceneaux for the touchdown and the victory.
