It was a tall mountain to climb for a Saskatchewan Roughriders looking for their first win of the season. Rookie quarterback Brett Smith was making his first career start and he found himself down 10-0 after the first quarter when the Eskimos put the ball in the end zone on their first drive that was capped with a 27 yard Kenny Stafford 27 yard catch and run and a short Grant Shaw field goal.
The second quarter was a little bit better with the Rider defence stiffening and cutting into the Eskimo lead to 10-4 at the half.
The third quarter was a nightmare for Brett Smith when he threw back to back interceptions with the first one taken back to the house for a touchdown and the second ending with another Grant Shaw field goal for the 23-5 Edmonton lead heading into the final quarter.
Tino Sunseri came into the game in in the fourth quarter but was unable to put the ball in the end zone and the Eskimos added another touchdown in the fourth quarter to complete the 30-5 victory.
The Riders look for their first win of the 2015 season next Saturday night at 7:00pm when the Green and White pay a visit to Toronto for the Argos home opener.
