It was the Riders final game at Mosaic Stadium this season and the Green and White came firing out of the shoot.
It started with an interception of the Eskimos Mike Reilly on their first possession of the game by Junior Mertile. On the next play, Brett Smith connected with Naaman Roosevelt on a 40 yard strike to the two yard line. On the next play, Rob Bagg scored on a two-yard end around for the early 7-0 lead.
After an Eskimos field goal, the Riders scored on their next drive with Smith hooked up with Ryan Smith on a 65 yard pitch and catch for the touchdown and the 14-3 edge.
In the second quarter, Keith Price came in to spot Brett Smith and with his first CFL pass, he hit Roosevelt in the end zone for the TD and the 21-3 lead.
It was all downhill from there for the Riders as the Eskimos picked up 21 straight points on touchdowns by Derel Walker, Adarius Bowman, Mike Reilly and took the 24-21 lead into the locker room at half time.
It was more Eskimos in the second half, putting up another 11 more points off a Corey Watson touchdown with a two pointer and a Grant Shaw field goal to walk away with the 35-21 win.
The Riders finish the home half of the schedule with a record of 2-7 with two more games remaining on the road.
Jeff Knox Jr. was named the Wireless Age Player of the year and he also reached the 100 defensive tackle mark, making him the first Rider to do so since Jerell Freeman in 2011 when he had 105. Freemen along with Barrin Simpson (2010) and George White (2000) share the team record with 105 defensive tackles.
Terell Maze was named the Mosaic Community Player of the Year tonight as well.
The Riders will hit the road next week to take on the Calgary Stampeders. Its a 1pm Saskatchewan time kickoff on Halloween night.
