THE FORECAST: Environment Canada is calling for a sunny day with a high of 28 C and a wind out of the southeast at 30 km/h around noon. The evening is expected to be clear with a low of 14 C.
THE LOWDOWN: The Roughriders and Lions are to meet for the second straight week. B.C. won 30-15 when the teams met Aug. 5 at BC Place — the Lions’ seventh straight victory over the Roughriders dating back to the 2014 season … Saskatchewan is winless against West Division teams this season, having lost all three games against division rivals … It’s the Roughriders’ turn to stage the CFL-sponsored Purolator Tackle Hunger food drive. Patrons are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the game for donation to the program.
THE RIDERS’ ROSTER: Roughriders quarterback Kevin Glenn had his lowest passing output of the 2017 season in the teams’ previous meeting, throwing for just 186 yards and no touchdowns. But the 38-year-old remains the starter — and he will be for the foreseeable future … Centre Dan Clark is out with an elbow injury sustained in B.C. Brendon LaBatte will start at centre, with Derek Dennis moving from left tackle to left guard and Bruce Campbell coming onto the active roster to start at left tackle … The injury to Clark means the Roughriders will start three Americans on the O-line, so the team needs to find a Canadian starter somewhere else. That will happen in the receiving corps, where Nic Demski joins fellow Canuck Rob Bagg and internationals Naaman Roosevelt, Bakari Grant and Duron Carter in the starting lineup — a move that sends Caleb Holley to the bench. The backups also change, with national Devon Bailey coming on (taking Clark’s roster spot) to join national Denzel Radford and international Christion Jones … Like Glenn, tailback Cameron Marshall had low numbers in Vancouver, rushing just five times (his lowest number of carries this season) for 28 yards (second-lowest). But that was a product of the Roughriders falling behind the Lions early and wasn’t a reflection on Marshall, who went into Week 8 as the CFL’s third-leading rusher … Like Clark, defensive tackle Zach Minter (calf) has been placed on the six-game injured list after getting hurt in Vancouver. Newcomer Nick James will take over as the starter … There’s a change in the linebacking corps as well. Derrick Moncrief comes off the practice roster to take over at strong-side linebacker for Crezdon Butler, who moves into the secondary. Butler replaces Chris Lyles, who left Friday’s practice with a leg injury and has been put on the six-game injured list … There’s also a change at kicker. Tyler Crapigna, who missed the game in Vancouver, has been activated off the six-game injured list to replace Quinn van Gylswyk. After handling the kicking duties in Vancouver, van Gylswyk suffered an injury in practice Friday and has been put on the six-game injured list … The only other change to the roster sees defensive end Will Ratelle take the spot of linebacker/safety Erick Dargan, who has been placed on the one-game injured list.
